Ferdinand’s Ball

The fourth annual Ferdinand’s Ball celebrity Derby gala was held May 2 at the Muhammad Ali Center.

The charity event raised funds for Old Friends Equine Retirement Facility, a nonprofit Georgetown, Ky., facility that rescues retired racehorses from neglect, abuse and slaughter, offering them a peaceful final chapter to their lives while educating the public about their remarkable stories.

The red carpet, semi-formal affair featured a VIP cocktail hour, gourmet appetizers and an open bar. Guests were also treated to an exquisite silent auction, dancing to live music provided by The Crashers and live art created by Donna Bernstein, a Judith Ripka fine jewelry bar and bow ties by Dhani Jones.

Jockey Rosie Napravnik was presented with the 2013 Ferdinand Award.
