Chefs For Hope Fundraising Dinner

Six local culinary experts joined forces in the kitchen to prepare a multi-course meal as part of the “Chefs For Hope” fundraising dinner, held March 2 at Big Spring Country Club.

Chefs Daniel Stage of Louisville Country Club; Geoffrey Heyde of the Village Anchor; Dean Corbett of Corbett’s: An American Place and Equus & Jack’s Lounge; Jim Gerhardt of Limestone Restaurant; Dallas McGarity of The Marketplace; and Peng Looi of August Moon and Asiatique participated in the event, producing an award winning dinner for guests.

Proceeds from the dinner supported The Salvation Army Culinary Training Program, a 10-week multi-faceted training course that takes participants through food preparation, kitchen safety, proper use of kitchen equipment and how to effectively enter the food and hospitality industry. Many students leave the program with a job already secured. Since 2005 when the program began, more than 125 men and women have hope for a better future because of The Salvation Army Culinary Training Program.
