Interview By MIRANDA ROGERS MCDONALD
The Chic Sheet
Fashion is about self expression, so I don’t view it as designer labels, or even the latest trends. I think you should see yourself as a blank canvas and every day you have a chance to step inside your creative realm, so if you can create an outfit and actually pull it off, even better.
How do you describe your style?
Right now I am obsessed with the ’80s movie “Flashdance.†There are a lot of shiny legwarmers, off-the-shoulder tops and leggings, but next month it will be different.
What are your favorite pieces?
Before I walk out of the house I have to have my iPhone, charm bracelets and shades. They are like my kids and I can’t leave home without them.
Where is your favorite place to shop?Â
I like to shop all over, but I try not to go to the mall as much. Instead, I am a huge thrift shopper. I even posted an entry recently on my blog about some of my recent purchases, my top five thrift stores and how to shop thrifty.
I have two fashion icons, and I have had the pleasure of meeting them both. They are Grace Coddington and Patricia Field. Coddington is the creative director at Vogue and she really embodies fashion. Once we rode the same train and she said hello. I asked her to autograph a random notebook, and when she did I felt like a million bucks. Fields is a well-known costume designer and fashion stylist. Her work can be seen in “The Devil Wears Prada,†“Sex and the City†and “Ugly Betty.†Patricia Field is who I look up to when it comes to being a stylist. Through her struggles, passion and creativity she has never lost her voice. You can always see her at her store, or walking on the streets of Seventh Avenue in New York.
What made you decide to start blogging?Â
Blogging is a way to reach a larger arena of fashion gurus. I just wish I had started earlier. However, I am not a writer! I don’t even use a pen at work. I style models and product every day, so I wanted to find a blogging platform where there was more of a focus on images and less on writing, and tumblr was perfect for that. My blog is a journal of my career as a stylist, and includes images of designer editorials, models, interesting studio photos and street style fashion. I chose to name the blog after myself, because it also serves as a mini portfolio and resumé of what I do.

She strives to one day join the ranks of the fashion editors that she idolizes, and to show the world that a girl from Kentucky knows a little something about style.
