Castle & Key Distillery is a magical destination located in Frankfort, KY. We recently had the opportunity to chat with Castle & Key’s Marketing Coordinator, Alex Blotnik and Events Manager, Caitlin Gilliam, to get their thoughts on how to plan a wedding celebration in this bucolic setting. The gardens surrounding the distillery are historical and have been lovingly restored by renowned Landscape Architect Jon Carloftis. Whether you’re planning a wedding ceremony and or reception, Castle & Key Distillery is a venue to get on your list of luxurious locations.

Does Castle & Key Distillery host weddings? 

Yes, in addition to being a fully operational production facility, Castle & Key Distillery is also a wedding venue. 

What spaces are available for a wedding ceremony and receptions at the distillery? 

Castle & Key Distillery has three spaces available for potential wedding clients. The two outdoor spaces include the Sunken Garden and Springhouse. Castle & Key Distillery also has an indoor event space called the Shooking Building. Couples have the opportunity to utilize all three areas in any order. One of the most popular progressions of the event includes the ceremony in the Sunken Garden, followed by a cocktail reception at the Springhouse, then concluding with the reception in the Shooking Building. 

What is the capacity for the Shooking Building? 

The Shooking Building has a maximum capacity of 175 guests. The outdoor spaces do not have a set maximum capacity. 

How long is the rental period? 

Castle & Key Distillery opens at 10:00 a.m. for vendor access. Events must end by 11:30 p.m. with a one-hour window for cleanup. 

Can the wedding party get ready and dressed onsite?

Castle & Key Distillery has two spaces available beginning at 2:00 p.m. the day of the wedding. These spaces are more suitable for storing personal items and completing touch-ups before the event. 

May I have my rehearsal at Castle & Key Distillery? 

Castle & Key Distillery offers a one-hour ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner options if there are no prior scheduled conflicts.

Does Castle & Key have a preferred vendor list?

Castle & Key does have a preferred vendors list that will be provided before signing the contract.

Does Castle & Key Distillery offer bar packages? 

Yes, Castle & Key Distillery has multiple bar packages that suit your event. We do require a licensed caterer to serve alcohol for the reception and will be responsible for the staffing and service of the bar. 

Are tables, chairs and other rentals provided at Castle & Key Distillery? 

Castle & Key Distillery provides tables and chairs for up to 175 guests. Please inquire with our Event Manager about additional rentals. 

Does Castle & Key Distillery provide a venue representative? 

A Castle & Key representative will be present on the day of the event to grant access to event spaces, serve as a point of contact for venue questions and address any venue-related issues. It is important to note that Castle & Key does require an event planner for the day of. 

Does Castle & Key offer day-of-coordination? 

While you will have a Castle & Key representative present with you throughout your day, we do not provide day-of-coordination services at this time. You will be required to hire your own coordinator. 

Does Castle & Key Distillery have any open availability for weddings in 2022? 

Castle & Key Distillery is completely booked for 2022. However, the calendar for 2023 just opened this month!
