Tafel-Dawson Wedding

A young man from Maine was introduced to a beautiful girl from Kentucky while both were living in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. After years of courting and an endearing proposal story, Virginia Anne (Annie) Tafel of Louisville, Ky. and William David (Bill) Dawson of Cumberland Center, ME moved to Louisville where they were married on Oct. 19, 2013 at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church by the Reverend Robert (Robin) Jennings and the Reverend John (Jady) Koch, Jr.

The first chill of winter came as family and out-of-town guests gathered for a delightfully Kentucky-chic meets classic-Maine evening under the trees, lights and perfectly decorated tent at Hermitage Farm. The parents of the groom, Pam and Bill Dawson of Cumberland Center, ME, choose a menu that highlighted traditional Maine and Kentucky fare consisting of brisket, Derby pie, Maine beer and serving each guests their own fresh Maine lobster.

With inclement weather waking the wedding family and guests on the wedding day, the beauty of the church, the grace of the bride and the enthusiasm of the groom could not keep the sun from promisingly beaming through the church windows during the exchanging of the vows.  As Bill, his groomsmen and co-best men, Ben and Jake Dawson assumed their positions at the front of the sanctuary, the breathtaking bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, preceding her were bridesmaids and maid of honor, sister Juliette Tafel.

All guests, easily forever holding their peace, moved to Whitehall House and Gardens, a house the bride’s great grandmother was born and lived in, for a welcome toast by the parents of the bride, Nancy and Tom Tafel of Louisville, Ky. Guests partook in merriment, dancing and feasting under the sumptuously decorated tent next to the breathtaking gardens of Whitehall.

With a sparkler-lit send-off, the wedding celebration continued one mile down the road as local celebrity band, Tony and the Tanlines, were playing per the bride and groom’s request. Members of the wedding party, family, guests and of course the bride and groom, capped the night off to a background of 80s cover music before turning in after an unforgettable wedding weekend and a newly wedded, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dawson.

The couple will be honeymooning in Thailand at the end of November before returning to Louisville, where they plan to reside.
