The Louisville Sports Commission “Golden Ticket” 2012

Willy Wonka led a group of eccentric children through a magical world of sweet indulgence. The Louisville Sports Commission wants to do the same, sort of.

You won’t have to unwrap thousands of Wonka Bars in order to have a shot at the prize. For $100 you can buy one of the 300 Louisville Sports Commission “Golden Tickets” and have a reasonably good chance of winning.

It really is “golden” because the winner receives:

  • A choice between two tickets to every 2012-2013 UofL or UK regular season home football and basketball game
  • 2012 Kentucky Derby tickets
  • 2012 Kentucky Oaks tickets
  • Louisville Bats season tickets
  • Tickets to the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway, Bluegrass Club
  • Tickets to Bellarmine University men’s regular season home basketball games
  • 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball National Championship tickets
  • VIP credentials to attend the 2013 Cyclocross World Championships

Last year’s winner, David Hardy, had many good things to say to The Voice-Tribune about his experience as a winner of the Golden Ticket. He was able to share the fun not only with his family but also with clients at his commercial real estate firm, CBRE, where he is senior vice president.

How often do you enter raffles like this?
Once or twice a year if it’s for a good cause, and hopefully if I have a shot at the prize.

Do you win often? Are you a lucky guy?
I guess I’m a pretty lucky guy, but I’ve never won anything of this size.

What was your initial reaction when you won?
I was in shock to have won something and was excited to think about all the events I would be attending. I have three children and a wife and we were able to rotate around and get to most of the events. I’m also a small business owner so I got to invite clients along. It was a great opportunity to share the wealth.

What was your favorite event?
The Oaks and the Derby events were so much fun. We had two box seats and our kids were able to go with us. It was a great chance for them to experience it. We also got UK tickets, and it was obviously a great season for that!

Why would you recommend people buy a Golden Ticket for 2012?
I think The Louisville Sports Commission is a great group to support, and if you win it’s an unbelievable prize that you’ll never forget!
