Maya McClendon had 15 kills and 11 digs with two blocks as the University of Louisville Cardinals volleyball team triumphed withÂ a 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-16 win over AAC rival Temple on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals hit .229 for the match and aced Temple six times.Â Emily Juhl joined McClendon in double figure kills with 12 adding two blocks. Fellow senior Randi Ewing notched a season-high and career-high 10 blocks.Â Freshman Janelle Jenkins had nine kills and 10 blocks and libero Caitlin Welch had a match-high of 20 digs.
UofL had 14 unforced errors in the first set that Temple turned into a 25-21 win.Â Â The second set was much closer before Louisville managed to surge ahead in a 25-18 win. In the third, both teams stayed within one point until the CardinalsÂ went on a 6-2 run and eventually stormed the the set 25-16. The final set was an equally comfortable 25-16.
UofL makes their first road trip in the AAC when they face off against SMU in Dallas Friday and then on to Houston on Sunday.
