Pets Of The Week: Luke

Luke is a big kitty that has plenty of love to give. He is looking for a calmer indoor home where he can relax and take part in household activities. Luke is an amazing cat to have because he has slight hearing loss which will enable you to bond with him as you develop ways to communicate with each other. Even if he can’t hear a kitty food can pop open, he will smell great food and come running. He is able to understand simple hand gestures and will catch on to familiar routines right away. Cats that are hard-of-hearing or deaf also learn other communication signals such as turning on or off a light as an indicator. Luke has done well at Animal House Adoption Center; if he is asleep, he’s approached slowly and awakened with vibrations. He awakens happily and with curiosity. Animal House Adoption Center can provide you resources on living with pets that are hard-of-hearing or deaf and there are organizations dedicated to these pets that can offer support. So come meet Luke at Animal House Adoption Center, 3516 Newburg Road, or contact LMAS at 502.473.PETS (7387).  Don’t forget to visit the website to see other adoptable animals:  louisvilleky.gov/animalservices.
