Kentucky Humane Society And Louisville Metro Animal Services Celebrate Pet Independence Adoption Special

Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) and the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) invite the public to help homeless pets enjoy “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” by adopting before the July 4 holiday weekend.

The two agencies are joining together to offer a Pet Independence Adoption Celebration: adoption fees for dogs and cats age four months and older are just $4 June 29 through July 3. In addition to the $4 adoption fee, adopters pay for applicable Jefferson County pet licensing and microchip registration fees.

All pets adopted from KHS and LMAS have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm, flea and tick preventatives – services which are valued at nearly $250.

“June and July are among the highest intake months for shelters,” says Margaret Brosko, senior manager for Louisville Metro Animal Services. “More pets are given up in the summer than any other time of the year, and we want to make sure we do everything we can to find them loving, forever homes.”
