What is your fashion view?
My mom owned a children’s boutique in Madisonville, Ky. when I was younger, so I discovered my obsession with clothes at a young age. I went to private school and had to wear a uniform – it was torture. I would wear an obnoxiously big bow in my hair and crazy belts and socks to set myself apart.
I learned very quickly that fashion is a way to express yourself. What you choose to wear can say a lot. Just by looking at someone and how they dress can intrigue me to want to get to know them more or find them completely boring and not interested in them. It’s the first thing people see: your style.
How do you describe your style?
Practical chic. I always want to feel great in what I’m wearing and I always dress for the occasion. I never want to see my twin across the room, so I don’t like buying from stores that carry 50 of the same item, especially if it’s a print that’s recognizable. I try to stick with solid great-fitting items to build my base and add fun accessories. I’m currently obsessed with scarves, clutches and chunky jewelry. Also, I have a lot of tattoos, so I have to pick clothes that don’t fight with them. I want to feel comfortable, confident and slightly overdressed. Ha!
What are your favorite pieces?
Seven skinny jeans, Forever 21 black leggings, vintage fur coat that my “hubs†got me, Stuart Weitzman “Apron†platform sandals, Salvatore Ferragamo Clutch, Elizabeth and James Blazer, Tory Burch gold metallic snake clutch, lion bracelet by Twinkle by Wenlan from Clodhoppers and multi-color fox fur collar from Rhodes.
Where is your favorite place to shop?
I have a stylist that I love, Theresa Ray. She is a designer clothing rep. About once a month I shop with her. Also, I am really into consignment and thrifting. I make it a game to see what I can find and how much I can save. I frequent Sassy Fox, Margaret’s, Sugarbakers, Rochelle Rochelle, and even Salvation Army. You have to dig, but there are some great finds. Forever 21 can be overwhelming and I have to be in the mood but (they have) such great prices. I am a total shopaholic, so finding good deals is key!
Who is your fashion icon? Why?
I love Rachel Zoe. I think she needs to eat a cheeseburger, but her style is on point! From dressing herself, her husband, baby and whomever she is styling it’s always perfection. If I could afford to shop like her, my closet would be just like hers. I love her vintage designer pieces – ahh. And have you seen her sunglasses collection? Wow!
