Louder Than Life debuted in Louisville last year with the biggest rock music festival that the River City as ever seen. This year, Louder Than Life is even bigger and better with more legendary performers, more than 70 food and beverage vendors and WWE/NXT matches onsite at Champion’s Park on Oct. 3 and 4.
This year’s festival features a selection of craft beer, bourbon and spirits, as well as Gourmet Man Food curated personally by festival creator Danny Wimmer. But of course focuses on the music with a fine mix of rock legends and breaking talent including Rob Zombie, ZZ Top, Godsmack, Shinedown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Doors Down, and many more. To find out what to expect from this year’s festival we spoke with Clay Busch, one of the festival’s producers.
Last year Louder Than Life debuted last year with headliners like Judas Priest, Korn and Stone Temple Pilots. This year, you managed to top that with bands like ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Godsmack and Rob Zombie. How else has Louder Than Life improved upon last year’s event?
We are increasing our bourbon activations this year, with more distilleries coming to activate in our Bourbon Village. There will also be more food activations,  plus we are excited to bring WWE/NXT to Louder than Life for the first time, with onsite matches throughout the day. Â
How did the WWE/NXTÂ partnership come to fruition?
The WWE has always supported music, especially rock and metal. After spending some time with the organization one on one, attending a NXT event in San Jose earlier this year and seeing WrestleMania, it was a no brainer to integrate NXT into our festival programming. We have way too much in common not to support each other’s brands and help each other’s brands grow. Â
Last year’s Gourmet Man Food festival was highly regarded with gourmet food trucks and the VIP bourbon tent - this year you also have Louisville’s own celebrity chef Edward Lee. What can everyone expect this year?
We are going to have more Gourmet Man Food options for the general festival attendees to experience. Chef Lee will be doing two cooking demos in the Bourbon Village each day, as well as curating a special menu for VIP guests in the It’s Miller Time VIP Lounge.
And how about the ladies, will there be gourmet food for them as well?
The ladies of Hi Five Doughnuts are creating their own version of Gourmet Man Food – so check it out! Gourmet Man Food is for all mankind – not gender specific. It’s about expression – if you have the stomach to handle it!
If someone wants to make a weekend of it, what should they expect from your campgrounds?
Camping guests will get to play Knockerball (human soccer) and mini golf in our Keep Golf Metal activation. There will also be a Friday night welcome party for campers featuring bourbon inspired cocktails.
